Teamwork makes welcoming new students easy
Logan Lorenz is the Academic Support and Student Life Coordinator at NYIT-Vancouver. He is passionate about providing meaningful student engagement opportunities for students to learn about themselves and others, and to feel connected to the world around them.
New Student Orientation sees the arrival of new students, ready for the challenge of learning and growing academically, professionally, and personally. Many are settling in Canada for the first time and may have intentions of staying beyond their studies.
This event is supported by many individuals connected to our campus including students, staff, faculty, and community partners. There are nearly fifty individuals involved in making New Student Orientation a success.
A special set of individuals within this number is our team of Orientation Leaders. These individuals support small groups of students through the two-day event. Our 2017 Fall New Student Orientation will have seventeen of these student leaders.
This Friday we will be holding a full day training session for Orientation Leaders. The training session will be focused on ensuring the two-day event runs smoothly, but also will be focused on getting to know each other through team building activities.
The training session will focus on helping the Orientation Leaders fully understand the event and what they should be doing. Additionally, there will be a strong focus on getting to know each other and learning how to work in a team.
