Our campus recently welcomed over seventy-five new students. Each of our four programs had new students join their programs.

New Student Orientation was divided into two main parts: one main day for all new students and the second day for each program. The main day of orientation was Thursday, August 23. The program orientations were on different days:

• Friday, August 24: Finance, M.B.A. and Management, M.B.A.

• Tuesday, August 28: Energy Management, M.S.

• Wednesday, August 29: Information, Network, & Computer Security, M.S. and Instructional Technology, M.S.

Some of the main activities on the first day of New Student Orientation were:

• Submitting official documents and applying for NYIT student ID cards

• Getting to know other new students and Orientation Leaders through engaging icebreaker activities

• Learning what the Graduate Student Association has planned for the year and how they are supporting students

• Learning about various student services available both on-campus and off-campus

Some of the main activities on the program orientation days were:

• Understanding NYIT’s Academic Integrity policy

• Understanding one’s learning style and what it means to be a graduate student

• Group and individual program and course advising

• Registering in classes for their first term

• Ending the day by visiting FlyOver Canada

New Student Orientation was an absolute success this fall, and we are so happy to have all of our new students.
