Fall for Whistler

Oct 03, 2017

On Sunday, September 24, 2017, twenty-three NYIT-Vancouver students were able to enjoy one of the first days of Fall in the beautiful and iconic Whistler, British Columbia.

The day started off with a quick stop at Shannon Falls Provincial Park. This scenic spot was a great place to take pictures in the beauty of the waterfall. There was not a lot of water flowing in the waterfalls.

We continued along the Sea-to-Sky Highway until we finally arrived at Whistler. Our second stop was at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre. Here we learned about the Squamish and Lil’wat peoples, their culture and how the centrality of the land and sea to their way of life. One of the most enjoyable aspects of visiting the Cultural Centre was a 15 minute movie that reflected the passion they have for their culture and how they maintain it in the 21st century.

After visiting the Cultural Centre, we headed to Whistler Village and enjoyed the overall ambience it offers. There are many cute coffee shops, restaurants and great stores. After lunch at Whistler Village, we hopped on the gondola to the top of Mount Whistler. After arriving here, we took the Peak 2 Peak Gondola to Blackcomb Mountain. From this vantage point of 436 metres, we were able to take many incredible pictures.

After an entire day of adventure, we arrived back at the campus with unforgettable memories.
