Pamela Treister, DNP, CNS, RN, CMSRN, AE-C, clinical assistant professor, Department of Nursing, was the featured commentator on the Association of American Colleges and University’s “Academic Minute” on January 28 2019. Dr. Treister described how care received in emergency rooms is often uncompensated due to lack of insurance coverage causing many facilities to close. Financing initiatives to prevent and treat chronic health conditions, according to Dr. Treister, is one strategy to reduce this as well as having more providers with sliding scales.
