NYIT SoM Nanjing Holds 2nd Annual Industry Conference

NYIT School of Management held its 2nd Annual Industry Conference at Communication University of China (CUC), Beijing on May 5, 2018. The theme of the conference was “Emerging Technologies and Initiatives in China’s New Era.” The conference focused on the “Belt and Road Initiative” in the morning session and “Emerging Technologies: AI/VR/AR” in the afternoon session. The objective was to provide a forum for the industry experts and practitioners to share their knowledge with faculty, staff and students. The event was co-sponsored by ICUC and NYIT Beijing.

The conference presented a variety of topics throughout the day. For example in the morning session, “OBOR Initiative and Opportunities for Youth” illustrated steps “A” to “Z” of the initiative and how today’s business students can take advantage of the opportunities provided by this initiative, which was presented by Professor Song Yaowu (Northeast Petroleum University). Professor Zhou Nianli (University of International Business and Economics) highlighted “Global Digital Trade” under the Belt and Road Initiative. Professor He Junming discussed “The Macro Trend, Opportunities and Challenges of the Belt and Road Initiative.” In the afternoon session, the CEO of Touch Virtual, Co. Ltd., Ms. Blair Li, presented “How AR/VR Technology Changes Retail Experience.” Mr. He Wei, CEO and Founder of Beijing Way-May Information Technology, discussed the integration of “AI Technology and Business.” Professor Li Junyang (Southeast University) presented “The People, Intelligence and Future of AI.” Mr. Li Jun, CEO and Founder of Meng Tai Technology, discussed “Artificial Intelligence – A New Approach Towards Social Science.” Mr. Wei Wang, CEO and Founder of Hui Wei Technology, presented on “Strategies on Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Intelligence Manufacturing.” Furthermore, Professor Huang Qiuye, Director of Tech Art and Design, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, discussed “The Application of VR and its Prospective Research.”

The event was hosted by NYIT Nanjing Campus Dean and Assistant Dean of School of Management, Professor Keh Kwek. Additionally, the event was attended by Executive Dean and Associate Dean of ICUC, Professor Luo Qing, NYIT Beijing Campus Dean, Professor John Smith, SoM Business Advisory Board members, NYIT Nanjing and Beijing SoM full-time and adjunct instructors, NYIT Nanjing, Beijing and ICUC academic staff, and Nanjing and Beijing SoM students.

Overall, the conference was a success! Conference participants and students gave very positive feedback on their experience. Professor Boncho Dragiyski, stated, “I would like to thank you for inviting me to attend the 2nd Annual Industry Conference. I understand that planning an event requires unhesitating commitment, skillful management, and profound knowledge of the relevant discussions within the specific professional field. You were an excellent host who provided us with a unique experience to learn about the latest technologies within an environment of warm camaraderie. After having had the pleasure of attending the first two editions of the Annual Industry Conference, I already look forward to its next edition in 2019.” Ms. Blair Li stated “Thank you for the honor to participate in such a wonderful conference. The 2nd Industry Conference was very well planned and executed. You were an excellent host and I congratulate you for this great success.” Mr. He Jun stated: “Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to present with such professional and inspiring colleagues and industry experts.” Professor Song Yaowu stated: “Please know how much we appreciate all of your efforts in organizing this event with the assistance of your outstanding SoM team.” The students that attended the conference rated the event 92% “Outstanding” and “Very Good.”
