The Society of Hosteurs took students to tour the Hotel Indigo Brooklyn last week. Students were guided throughout the hotel where they viewed the different types of rooms and learned about the history of the hotel. Qi Huang, a current undergraduate student who went on the tour, stated, “The rooms were very big, comfortable, and exciting. We learned a lot during the tour about the hotel.” The students then spoke to different departments, including housekeeping management, sales and marketing, accounting, as well as the general manager, and the front desk manager. Each person explained his or her role within the hotel. They also explained how vital everyone’s role is in making the Hotel Indigo Brooklyn run smoothly every day, and therefore, everyone’s job has equal importance.

The Hotel Indigo Brooklyn gave students accessories to take with them after the tour. They also offered students who are interested in Hospitality studies the opportunity to work or volunteer within the hotel. All of the students received Student Advancement credit for attending this event.
