Vacationing this Summer? Professor Alan Fairbairn Offers Advice and Guidance on Traveling

May 17, 2017

Alan Fairbairn, an Associate Professor of Hospitality Management at NYIT, gives advice on summer travel in WalletHub’s article, “2017’s Best Summer Vacation Spots.” The article gives suggestions on vacations to take this summer when you are on a budget. The article states, “WalletHub’s data team compared 80 of the most popular U.S. vacation spots across 38 key indicators of a wallet-friendly and Instagram-worthy summer vacation.” Based on this data, WalletHub provides a list of the best places to visit. It also lists the top five vacation spots based on various categories, such as “Most Attractions,” “Most Activities,” and “Lowest Travel Costs & Fewest Hassles.” WalletHub also asked experts in the field to share travel and budgeting advice, and Professor Fairbairn was one of the experts that was chosen.

In the article, Professor Fairbairn answers various questions and gives suggestions to others looking to travel in the next few months. He believes that U.S. travel will be prosperous this summer. When asked about the Federal government blocking airlines from overbooking flights, Professor Fairbairn states, “The Federal government needs to get involved immediately on airline seating. Continual overcrowding and reducing the space between rows and sizing of seats is not only a personal space issue but a safety issue.” Furthermore, Professor Fairbairn’s advice to families traveling with children is to take direct flights and travel during the week. Additionally, in order to avoid costly travel mistakes, he believes it is important to check travel sites for references. Check out the article to read more advice and suggestions from Professor Fairbairn.
