The Global Center for Hospitality Management received the 2017 Industry Advancement Award and Suffolk County Long Island Proclamation Recognition. The center was recognized along with other honorees at Discover Long Island’s Inaugural Tourism Awards Gala at Fox Hollow in Woodbury on November 14, 2017.

The Industry Advancement Award and Suffolk County Long Island Proclamation Recognition awarded the center as an institution that fosters an understanding of the value of tourism, promotes the industry as an economic driver and fosters future talent for the industry.

The awards were presented to Alan Fairbairn, associate professor, CHA, CHIA and Robert Koenig, Ed.D., associate dean and chair of hospitality management in the School of Management. In attendance were also NYIT hospitality students along with Patthara Chandaragga (B.P.S. ‘11, M.A. ‘13), student advisement specialist.
