Director Jeffrey Raven on Cities with Nature in Laayoune, Morocco (Western Sahara)

Jeffrey Raven FAIA LEED BD+C, NYIT Director, Graduate Program in Urban Design & Associate Professor contributed to a roundtable on Cities with Nature in Laayoune, Morocco (Western Sahara). Speaking to a conference of global experts, he expanded on the traditional influence and capabilities of architect-urbanists by bridging climate science, policy and design practice.

His intervention provided an operational framework and case studies for practicing urban design professionals and a policy framework for municipal governments.

Introducing and moderating the roundtable was Michael Berkowitz, former President of 100 Resilient Cities at the Rockefeller Foundation. Other contributors included Simin Davoudi, Professor University of Newcastle, United Kingdom, Environmental Justice; Karim Rouissi, Architect and Professor Ecole d’Architecture de Casablanca, Housing the greatest number in Casablanca; Kunle Adeyemi, Architect and Planner, NLÉ Amsterdam, Water Cities; Antoine Faye, Fayan Consulting, Senegal (former Chief Resilience Officer for Dakar), Resilience challenges in Dakar
