How Cities Can Curb Climate Change -- Facebook Live Discussion

Mar 28, 2018

Check out the Facebook Live Discussion on the intersection of urban design, low-carbon cities, and climate science with Prof. Jeffrey Raven and urban design graduate student Luciana Godinho, who had a lively discussion at NYIT-Manhattan.

The session focused on Prof. Raven’s article, To Curb Climate Change, Cities Need The Right Design, published by Forbes.com. It also focused on the newly-published book Climate Change and Cities, published by Cambridge University Press (2018), for which Prof. Raven is Coordinating Lead Author of the Urban Planning and Urban Design chapter (Chapter 5), in collaboration with a team of international experts who contributed to the work.

Prof. Raven’s applied research contends that the challenges of a rapidly urbanizing world threatened by climate change requires expanding on the traditional influence and capabilities of urban planning and urban design. The discussion focused on the intersection of urban design, low-carbon cities, and climate science as cities confront the urgent need to simultaneously cut greenhouse gas emissions while adapting to a warming planet.
