Students Certify Their Skills with SolidWorks
On Friday, April 18, the Department of Mechanical Engineering welcomed Avelino Rochino, Senior Application Consultant for SolidWorks Certification at Dassault Systèmes (DS), and Stephanie Hayna, a Mechanical Engineer at ICU Medical and NYC SolidWorks leader representing DS SolidWorks Corporation, to lead a free SolidWorks certification training session for students.
SolidWorks is one of the most widely used computer-aided design (CAD) platforms in the industry. The SolidWorks Certifications Program offers more than thirty certifications to validate a user’s competency with SolidWorks technology. With over 850,000 certified users worldwide, obtaining a SolidWorks certification significantly enhances an engineer’s resume and portfolio. It demonstrates up-to-date professional skills and knowledge aligned with current industry standards—giving students a competitive edge in the job market.
During the session, Mr. Rochino and Ms. Hayna introduced the fundamental knowledge and skills required to pass the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) exam in CAD Mechanical Design. They reviewed the exam’s structure, outlined key subject areas, and provided effective strategies to approach exam questions... and to further support student success, they generously offered each participant a discount code to take the CSWA certification exam at no cost!
“This is a great learning opportunity for our students. The SolidWorks certificate would be a great addition to their professional profile and gives them an advantage in job hunting.”—Professor Xun Yu, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Academic Affairs & Department Chair of Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is deeply grateful to Mr. Rochino and Ms. Hayna for their visit. Their in-depth workshop ensured that New York Tech student engineers left equipped with the tools to validate their skills and were better prepared for the road ahead in their professional careers.
