New York Tech @ Zebra Technologies
On Friday, October 18th, a group of 46 New York Tech students, faculty, and staff from both the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences (CoECS) and the School of Management (SoM) toured the Long Island headquarters of Zebra Technologies. Zebra is a colossus in the business-to-business world, providing software and hardware solutions related to mobile computing, barcode scanners and printers, RFID devices, autonomous mobile robots, and machine vision. In the last two decades, Zebra has positioned itself as one of the main players in advanced data capture services, with assets totaling over $7 billion and just under 10,000 employees. Our sincerest thanks go to Scott Froehlich, Senior Director of Product Operations at Zebra, for inviting us to observe their operations.
Students were very excited to tour the Zebra campus and were exposed to the day-to-day operations of a large technology manufacturer. The tour included in-depth conversations with engineers, presentations from hardware, software, and design teams, and a look into Zebra’s internal product testing labs. This event allowed attendees to peek behind the scenes and gain firsthand knowledge of Zebra’s internal operations.
At the end of the tour, students were encouraged to apply for Zebra’s robust internship program. Zebra hires over 100 interns each year across their Engineering, Supply Chain, IT, Legal, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and HR departments. Perks of Zebra’s internship program include professional and technical development events, access to a mentorship program, competitive pay, and paid time off, making Zebra a very attractive potential employer.
This visit was made possible through our KEEN Partnership and their Engineering Unleashed initiative. New York Tech’s College of Engineering & Computing Sciences is proud to be a member of KEEN, the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network—a national coalition of engineering faculty and staff committed to fostering innovation in engineering education for the betterment of society.
