Apply for Department of Defense Scholarships by May 5

Calling all SoECS Undergraduate and Graduate Students! This is your opportunity to apply for Department of Defense (DoD) scholarships below through the SoECS Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity:

  • $22,500 per year for undergraduate students who have declared a major in either Computer Science with a concentration in Network Security, or Information Technology with a Concentration in Computer Security
  • $30,000 per year for graduate students who are enrolled in the Information, Network, & Computer Security M.S. Program

Deadline: If you are interested, please send a letter of interest by May 5. by email to Dr. Michael Nizich (mnizich@nyit.edu), with copies to Dr. Marta Panero (mpanero@nyit.edu). They will help you complete your application form.

Eligibility:

  • U.S. Citizens or resident aliens
  • Undergraduates: rising juniors and seniors only; GPA of at least 3.2
  • Graduates: GPA of at least 3.5

Commitment: Once they graduate, students selected to participate in the DoD IASP must work as a civilian employee for one calendar year for each year of scholarship assistance. Students will also be required to serve in internship positions, if timing permits, with the DoD organizations during the time they are receiving scholarship support until they complete the course of study provided for by the scholarship.

Process: The scholarship request to DoD will be submitted by NYIT for all student applicants. NYIT will manage and disburse the scholarship funds to any of the students whose application are approved by DoD.
