Sports Medicine recently partnered with Jillian Savino, the Injury Prevention Coordinator at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, to share tips on preventing concussions at Great Neck Middle School. “Most people do not realize that when children suffer a concussion the chances of complications are higher” says Dr. Zwibel. In fact children may be prone to depression after a concussion especially if they reported a lot of symptoms initially”. Dr. Zwibel asserts, “We want children to understand concussions so they can realize the importance of letting someone know they are not feeling right”. The Center for Sports Medicine has also partnered with Lawrence and Syosset High Schools to help advance the care of concussions in the community.
