NYITCOM OMM Department and Students at the 2022 American Academy of Osteopathy 2022 Convocation

NYITCOM was well represented this during the 2022 AAO convocation. Below were some of the accomplishments from the students, residents, and faculty from both OW and JB.

Six osteopathic medical students and one resident presented posters for the LBORC-NUFA research poster presentation, and five posters placed in the competition.

Our NYITCOM Jonesboro representative, Erika Levy was awarded 1st place at the A Hollis Wolf student case presentation competition. Sylvia Marshall, OMS4 (AS) also presented at the case competition. Her case “Lymphatic OMT for the Relief of Deltoid Soreness Post-Pfizer Vaccination” has also been recently published in the Journal of Osteopathic Medicine.

Additional Faculty Highlights:

  • Sheldon Yao, DO, FAAO, presented “Osteopathic Considerations in Concussion Diagnosis and Treatment” Evening with the FAAO’s and FAOASM’s on opening night.
  • Hugh Ettlinger DO, FAAO, FCA - Magoun Memorial, FAAOs teaching NUFA students (OMM fellows) March 26, 8:00-9:30am Dr. Yao assisted with table training
  • Dr. Yao was elected onto the AAO Board of Trustees for a 3-year term
  • Dr. Kooyman assisted in organizing the mentorship program as part of the membership committee
  • Dr. Mancini participated in as a member of the LBORC OMM research committee
  • Dr. Keys presented NYIT Osteopathic Medicine Center updates at the NYIT alumni reception with plans for additional CME.
