Hui-Yin Hsu, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Department of Teacher Education, served as co-chair of the 2018 Education Solutions International Conference in New York City, April 19-21, 2018. Hsu, along with other members of the Department of Teacher Education and the UNESCO Center for Global Education, organized the conference, which brought together approximately 300 representatives from 20 countries to formulate educational strategies to accomplish UNESCO’s Sustainable Development Goal 4: “ensure inclusive and equitable education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” The Department of Teacher Education received an Education Solutions Stakeholders Partnership Award and Hsu and her colleagues, Robert Feirsen, Ed.D., assistant professor and director of school leadership and technology, Shiang-Kwei Wang, Ph.D., professor and associate dean of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Education, Melda Yildiz, Ed.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Instructional Technology, and Minaz Fazal, Ph.D., assistant professor of teacher education, presented evidence-based transformative education strategies and led the discussions on education solutions.
