Artist Statement
This concept us about developing an innovative way to introduce and teach a historical event with emergent technologies, name virtual reality. This project will have a focus on a key event in African and Caribbean history, the Battle of Crete a Pierrot, a pivotal event in the Haitian Revolution and War of Independence. The project will consist of an immersive world where the user can navigate a dynamic and vibrant world and interact with key historical items from the era. This current will consist of a single module in which you can interact with an object which will then a part of the story of the event being detailed. The full interaction would consist of the several objects to interact with to detail the entire history the event.
Artist Biography
Christopher Olagunju is a Nigerian American illustrator and 3D Artist. Since he was a child and gifted his first set of encyclopedias by his parents, he has developed and cultivated a love of history and geography which resonates in and drives his work. In addition to that he also fostered a love of drawing which naturally led into the field of Computer Graphics and his graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. In midst of pursuing his Master of Fine Arts degree, he looks to incorporate both his love of art and history in developing innovative methods for teaching history in an ever-evolving world.
