Career Tip #1: Reporting Internships

Mar 13, 2019

As a student in F-1 status, you must be in full time status for one full academic year before being eligible for CPT. An academic year means that you must enrolled for consecutive Fall and Spring semesters.

When you satisfy that criteria, you can move forward with an internship. When you receive an internship, it must be approved by your faculty advisor or department chair.

It is important that you not only apply for Curricular Practical Training but also report your internship to the Office of Experiential Education.

They will enroll you in the Internship Certificate Program so you can receive employer evaluations, personalized guidance from staff as well as the opportunity to network and share your experience with your fellow NYIT interns.
