A Stellar Finish to National Student Employment Week at New York Tech
2024 National Student Employment Week (NSEW) launched with a celestial theme as we celebrated the rising stars of our community. The week began with a vibrant kickoff, featuring a Grab & Go Breakfast held on both the NYC and LI campuses. Hosted by Career Success and Experiential Education, this event provided student employees with a breakfast spread, including an assortment of bagels, muffins, coffee, and juice. It was a celestial start to a week dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the bright talents within our student employment program.
Adding to the celestial atmosphere, the Office of Student Employment organized a series of Award ceremonies on the New York campuses. At these special gatherings, Denniesia Cameron Associate Director for Student Employment, had the pleasure of presenting the esteemed New York Tech NSEW Awards to deserving students and supervisors. Each award served as a shining tribute to the exceptional contributions and stellar performances that define our rising stars.

Student Employee of the Year: Awarded to an outstanding student employee who has made a positive impact on their department and/or university and has demonstrated exceptional quality of work and professionalism

Graduate Assistant of the Year: Awarded to an outstanding graduate assistant who has made a positive impact on their department and/or the university and has demonstrated exceptional quality of work and professionalism.

Veteran Student Worker of the Year: Awarded to an outstanding veteran student employee honoring the remarkable dedication and valuable contributions of a student employee who has served in the armed forces, showcasing exemplary leadership, adaptability, and commitment to excellence in furthering the institution's mission. This prestigious recognition celebrates their unique perspective, skills, and unwavering dedication to enhancing the success and inclusivity of our institution's community.
New York: Amadeaus Reeves and Maria Gonzales Bautista
Community Partner of the Year: Recognizes an outstanding collaborator whose commitment to the Federal Work Study Community Service Partnership has significantly enriched the educational experiences of our students and positively impacted our institution. Through their unwavering dedication and innovative initiatives, they have played a pivotal role in fostering meaningful connections between our students and the broader community, embodying the values of service, collaboration, and experiential learning.

Supervisor of the Year: Celebrates an exceptional experiential educator within our student employment program, recognizing their outstanding commitment to guiding and mentoring students towards success in both their academic and professional endeavors. Through their exemplary leadership and dedication, they have played a pivotal role in fostering valuable learning experiences, enriching the institution's community, and empowering students to reach their full potential.

Rising Star Award: Awarded to a student employee who has made outstanding contributions and demonstrated exceptional dedication, initiative, and impact in advancing the goals and success of our institution. This prestigious accolade celebrates their remarkable achievements and future potential as an invaluable member of our community.

Throughout the week, the theme of Rising Star illuminated every event, reminding us of the boundless potential and bright futures that our student employees embody. Each occasion sparkled with recognition and appreciation for the remarkable efforts of our rising stars and their dedicated supervisors. As NSEW unfolded, it not only raised awareness of the vital role of student employment in the higher education experience but also provided a platform to celebrate and honor the rising stars who enrich our campus community. It was a week filled with celestial energy, celebrating the dedication, talent, and bright promise of all involved.
