Michael Ferraro Appointed Senior Research Fellow for 2024-2025 Academic Year
The Center for Offsite Construction is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Ferraro as a Senior Research Fellow for the 2024-2025 academic year. With over a decade of experience in the field of modular construction and Building Information Modeling (BIM), Ferraro brings a wealth of expertise to his role, particularly in integrating innovative digital workflows to enhance offsite construction practices.
Currently serving as Vice President of Design for Manufacturing at FullStack Modular, Ferraro has consistently demonstrated leadership in the BIM and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) domains. His work spans multiple high-profile projects, including modular facade management, BIM implementation, and fabrication detailing. Ferraro’s technical proficiency and strategic insights have been instrumental in advancing modular construction, improving project delivery through data-driven solutions and advanced modeling techniques.
Before his current role, Ferraro served as Vice President of Design & Product Innovation at CRATE Modular, where he focused on BIM and VDC strategies to optimize modular construction processes. His earlier positions, including roles at MiTek Inc. and USIS, further solidified his reputation as a leader in the integration of BIM with prefabricated building solutions. Ferraro's ability to bridge design with manufacturing, ensuring seamless coordination across project teams and stakeholders, is a hallmark of his career.
“Michael's work in BIM and modular construction continues to set industry standards for digital innovation,” said Jason Van Nest, Director of the Center for Offsite Construction. “His contributions to developing efficient workflows and advancing BIM technologies make him an invaluable asset to our research efforts. We are excited to have him as a Senior Research Fellow.”
In addition to his technical leadership, Ferraro is known for his mentorship and collaborative approach, having managed teams across multiple continents and mentored emerging professionals in the BIM and modular construction space. His hands-on experience with BIM data strategy, advanced work packaging, and cross-functional team leadership will significantly contribute to the Center’s research initiatives.
As a Senior Research Fellow, Ferraro will focus on furthering the adoption of BIM/VDC in offsite construction, developing new methodologies to integrate virtual design tools into the modular construction workflow, and providing strategic insights into future trends in prefabricated building solutions.
