Build Ahead
Alexandra Donovan Named Senior Research Fellow for 2025-2026 Academic Year

The Center for Offsite Construction at NYIT is proud to welcome Alexandra Donovan as a Senior Research Fellow for the 2025 academic year. Alexandra brings a welcome blend of design vision, technical insight, and cross-disciplinary experience that reflects the Center’s mission to catalyze innovation in industrialized construction and modular delivery.
A licensed architect and design strategist, Alexandra has spent her career advancing sustainable materials, modular methods, and systems-level thinking in building practice. She most recently served as Design & Innovation Lead at Assembly OSM, where she worked across design, operations, and business development to advance a next-generation building system for high-rise urban modular. Her career spans architecture, fabrication, and research, with a focus on translating emerging technologies into real-world, climate-aligned applications.
At the Center, Alexandra will start by helping refine the Mod 2.0 Research Roadmap for offsite construction — identifying high-impact areas of inquiry and supporting pathways to implementation. Her interdisciplinary approach will help bridge research and practice to accelerate the adoption of offsite methods.
Alexandra joins a cohort of Senior Research Fellows whose professional experience spans policy, AI, real estate finance, general contracting, and modular manufacturing. Together, they are helping the Center chart a new direction for the construction industry — one grounded in research-backed practice and designed to prepare a next generation of students and professionals for manufacturing-informed delivery models.
We look forward to Alexandra’s contributions in the year ahead, and to the insights she will bring to students, faculty, and our growing network of industry partners.
