Thank you School of Management Orientation Leaders!

Sep 13, 2017

Even though Orientation has ended, the School of Management wants to recognize the Orientation Leaders who took the time to help incoming students learn more about our program and how to succeed here at NYIT! On the Manhattan campus, the Orientation leaders, Naomi Hadarik, Orly Manrique, and Harshwardhan Shekhawat, Alexandra Vernet, and Klaudia Romaniuk, all enjoyed getting to know the new students. They provided guidance, support, and shared the experiences they have had here at NYIT.

Naomi Hadarik is currently a junior at NYIT, and she is studying Finance. When asked why she chose NYIT, she stated, “The reason I choose NYIT was because when I came to the open house and orientation the student leaders were so friendly and welcoming. They made me feel comfortable that NYIT was going to be my new home. Since it is a smaller school compared to other colleges, the community is basically a second family.”

Harshwardhan Shekhawat, another Finance major, chose NYIT because “New York Institute of Technology has the highest accreditation for business schools i.e. AACSB. It was one of the main factors I considered NYIT School of Management. Studying finance in the financial capital of the country give plenty of opportunities and exposure to NYIT students.” He is grateful for having the opportunity to become an Orientation Leader this summer. He stated, “Being an International student, it has always been very important for me to be able to communicate with others and improve my communication skills. Becoming an Orientation Leader gave me an opportunity to connect and network with over 500 new students in NYIT. The position not only helped me to increase my communication skills but also helped me to network with so many new people, which is very important for a business student.”

Orly Manrique, a sophomore Marketing student explained, “The reason I became an Orientation Leader was because I wanted to give back to NYIT for everything it did for me my first semester, either through the School of Management or through different departments. Then I thought what better way to do so than to help introduce the new class of student leaders to NYIT.” Additionally, he believes this experience has been beneficial “for myself and my SoM peers because it allowed us to get leadership skills that can be implemented into our department and that will be beneficial for us in the long run.”

Thank you Orientation Leaders for all of your hard work! We appreciate everything you have done.
