Selma Zorowitz Award Given to Professor Donald Liao

​Professor Donald Liao was awarded the Slema Zorowitz Award. The Selma Zorowitz Award was established in 2003 to recognize a NJ ISACA Board member for long-standing contribution to the Chapter and the profession. This Award is in honor of Selma Zorowitz who was a very industrious member early in the chapter formation. She served in numerous capacities on the Board and helped implement various Chapter activities even beyond her retirement in 1996. She was a mentor to many IT auditors in both the New Jersey and New York City Chapters. Candidates must be nominated by at least one NJ ISACA Board member. Final selection will be made by the Awards Committee. Only one such award is given annually.

Donald Liao is an Internal Audit Consultant and SOX Auditor, serving many Fortune 500 companies over the past 14 years. He directs and completes audits, conforming to professional, regulatory and compliance requirements. He has also serves ad Director of Financial Systems for a nationally-recognized university, as well as the Managing Business Systems Consultant for a multi-national insurer.

Donald is the immediate Past NJ Chapter President. He served one year as NJ Chapter Secretary and he served two years as NJ Chapter Treasurer. During his tenure, he focused on building effective teams. His Executive team was awarded the K. Wayne Snipes Worldwide Award for Very Large Chapters by ISACA International for the 2016 Chapter year. His communications team was awarded the 2015, 2014, and 2013 Communications Commendation Award from ISACA International from 2014 through 2016. As Treasurer, his finance and budge committees strengthened the chapter’s financial policies and reserve, which provided greater financial security for the chapter.

Donald holds a B.S. in Physics from Stevens Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. in Finance from the executive program at Columbia University’s Business School. He obtained his CISA (2007), and CISM (2013), and CRISC (2011), and he also has over 18 years of experience teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses in MIS, Risk Management, Resource Management, and Cyber Law at the New York Institute of Technology and Stevens Institute of Technology.
