Dr. Deborah Y. Cohn and Professor Joshua E. Bienstock Attend and Present at SPUDM26

Sep 20, 2017

Dr. Deborah Y. Cohn and Professor Joshua E. Bienstock attended the SPUDM26 (The 26th Subjective Probability, Utility, and Decision Making Conference). The conference was held at the Technion Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel from August 20-24, 2017.

At the conference, Dr. Cohn and Professor Bienstock presented a paper they wrote titled, “Decision Heuristics Related to Workplace Relationship Management on Social Media.” Their paper and presentation examined the unfriending decision on social media within the workplace. Their research “is the first that examines the consequences (e.g., harmony and conflict) of the friending and unfriending decision in the workplace.” Their key findings show, “Employees rarely unfriend. It is a more stringent decision-making process with greater consequences than friending.” Additionally, they provide managerial recommendations based on their findings. The paper was well received.
