Published: STAR Community Index, 1.0, to Develop Sustainable Standards for American Communities

Jeffrey Raven has been STAR Community Index™ Technical Advisor since 2008 to develop sustainable goals, indicators and metrics for entire cities in the United States. STAR is a pioneering, strategic planning and performance management system that will offer local governments in New Jersey and nationally a road map for improving community sustainability and helps communities address their interconnected concerns—economic, environmental and social. It is a national, consensus-based framework for gauging the sustainability and livability of U.S. communities. After 4 years of work, STAR Community Rating System 1.0 was launched in October 2012. Jeffrey Raven’s work with STAR is focused on developing goals, scope and measures for: Green Infrastructure, Resilience + Climate Adaptation, Comprehensive Planning, Transportation + Mobility, Compact + Complete Communities, Natural Systems.
