CfOC Executive Director Joins NYC Climate Week Panel on Industrialized Construction

Sep 18, 2025

The Center for Offsite Construction is pleased to announce that our Executive Director, Jason Van Nest, will represent the CfOC during NYC Climate Week on the panel “Learning from Experience: How Industrialized Construction Can Succeed Moving Forward.”

This session is the first of two conversations hosted by SHoP Architects and ADL Ventures under the banner A Deep Dive into Offsite Construction & Innovation. Together, the events bring leading practitioners, policymakers, and innovators into dialogue about the role of industrialized construction in delivering more housing, faster, and with dramatically lower carbon impact.

Event Overview
Climate Week NYC has become one of the most influential platforms for advancing solutions to the climate crisis. On Tuesday, September 23rd at SHoP Architects’ studio in the Woolworth Building, leaders from across the construction ecosystem will share insights on the promise and pitfalls of modular and offsite delivery. The afternoon begins with registration at 2:00 PM, followed by two panel discussions and an evening networking reception.

Panel 1 (2:30–3:45 PM): Learning from Experience: How Industrialized Construction Can Succeed Moving Forward

Panel 2 (4:00–5:15 PM): Building Ecosystems to Change the Construction Industry

Networking Reception (5:30–6:30 PM): Drinks and informal exchange

The first panel, featuring Jason, will provide a clear-eyed review of past modular and offsite projects. Panelists will address what worked, what failed, and how those lessons should inform the next generation of industrialized construction. The conversation is designed for owners, builders, public agencies, and investors eager to move beyond pilots toward reliable, scalable delivery.

Panelists Joining Jason
Jason will be joined by several accomplished voices in the field:

Bill Seery, Director of Prefabrication at Consigli Construction. A pioneer in modular bathroom pods and co-founder of SurePods/Eggrock, Bill has decades of experience scaling prefabrication across hospitality, healthcare, multifamily, and education sectors. His track record in lean construction and modular ramp-ups makes him one of North America’s foremost experts on industrialized delivery.

Timothy Nichols, Business Development Leader at Assembly OSM. With more than 15 years of experience in forging strategic partnerships, Timothy specializes in aligning technology, finance, and organizational growth to drive transformative change. His insights into cross-sector collaboration add an important perspective on how modular firms can thrive within complex ecosystems.

Representatives from SHoP Architects and ADL Ventures, who bring design leadership and innovation expertise to the table. Together, they will moderate and guide the dialogue, ensuring lessons from past projects translate into practical strategies for the future.

What you can Expect Jason to Discuss
Industrialized construction is increasingly recognized as a linchpin for climate action. By shifting work offsite into controlled manufacturing environments, projects can be delivered faster, with higher quality, and significantly lower waste. These efficiencies not only reduce emissions but also help close the widening gap in affordable housing and resilient infrastructure.

For the CfOC, participating in Climate Week NYC underscores our commitment to advancing the Configure-to-Order marketplace—a new paradigm for offsite construction where standardization and innovation work hand-in-hand to transform how buildings are designed and delivered.

The event is open to the public with advance registration. More details and registration can be found here.
