Dr. Janet Walsh Wins Outstanding Research Award and Best in Session Award

Jun 06, 2017

Dr. Janet Walsh recently returned from the Global Conference on Business and Finance, which is hosted by the Institute of Business and Research Finance. Her paper, “Success Characteristics of Foreign Direct Investment in Cuba,” won the Outstanding Research Award, and it was accepted for publication in the Global Journal of Business Research this summer. Dr. Walsh’s paper also won the Best in Session Award. This award is given to participants based on a peer-review process.

Dr. Walsh’s research looked at the market entry characteristics of companies that were able to enter the Cuban market and remain there for multiple years. The results showed a very different pattern of market entry from market entry in other countries. Specifically, the interpersonal relationships and business strategy adaptation were of greater significance in this environment than in others.
