Council of Independent Colleges Historic Campus Architecture Project
Through an agreement with the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC),
ARTstor will make available nearly 5,000 images of architecture from American independent college and university campuses. The Historic Campus Architecture Project (HCAP) documents nearly 2,100 places of historical significance from nearly 400 institutions.  Learn more

Database Trial - Credo Reference

Credo ReferenceThe NYIT Libraries are now conducting a trial of Credo Reference online. Credo Reference (formerly X-refer) is the world’s largest online reference service, featuring:

  • 280 full-text reference titles (and growing) with over 3 million entries from 60 highly-respected publishers integrated in a robust search engine.
  • Unlimited, simultaneous and remote user access at a very reasonable price.
  • Many new unique interactive features such as dynamic table functionality for world state, and county statistics, an interactive world atlas, flash animations, videos, poetry/literature readings, over 1,000 music files, and our critically-acclaimed concept map.
  • More than 175,000 images from all subject areas, over 200,000 audio pronunciations, and a citation formatter in APA, MLA, and Chicago formats for all articles.
  • “Did You Mean” feature offering suggestions to misspelled words.
  • MARC records for all titles, training webinars, user guides, and many other promoting capabilities.
  • New platform with seamless outbound searching into other library resources, facet technology, our new and improved concept map, and much more.

The trial is now active and will remain so through May 30th, 2008. In support of the trial are a list of titles currently available, and trial guide. You can begin your search now, and if you are interested in NYIT’s subscribing to this product feedback can be e-mailed to library@nyit.edu.

New Environmenal Database - GreenFILE

GreenFILE is a bibliographic database of information about environmental concerns.

GreenFILE indexes scholarly and general interest titles, as well as government documents and reports. This resource offers a unique perspective on the positive and negative ways humans affect the environment. Drawing on the connection between the environment and disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health and technology, GreenFILE serves as an informative resource for anyone concerned about the issues facing our planet. The database contains nearly 300,000 records, full text for selected titles and searchable cited references for more than 200 titles as well.

Advanced Photoshop

Morningstar Investment Research Center

Morningstar Library Edition’ has re-launched under the new name ‘Morningstar Investment Research Center.’ Included are a new interface, and re-named databases to better showcase the product. According to Morningstar Associate Product Manager Sumita Ghosh, Morningstar is “not just about mutual funds – even though we are the leader in that field. We’re also about stock research and options data. We provide industry-level information and analysis.”

Below are a few screen captures of some of the homepage enhancements. Also useful is the quick reference, located at the Help and Education Center. For those wishing to dive right in, begin your search now.
