Faculty and staff members are invited to submit book nominations for the 2009-2010 First-Year Experience Summer Reading Program, which seeks to provide a common intellectual experience and enhance a sense of community for incoming students. Recommended books should reflect a diversity of authors and disciplines. (Previous selections include Eric Schlosser’s Fast Food Nation, Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner; Barack Obama’s The Audacity of Hope, and Ishmael Beah’s A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier). For a nomination form, e-mail Theresa Williams, associate dean for academic support and retention services. Nominations are due by Tuesday, Feb. 17.
