Season Preview:
NYIT expects big things this season. With star Kevin Hennesy, the 2007 USILA Player of the Year and sophomore Christian Scuderi returning, the core of a 10-2 NCAA final four team remains in tact.
The Bears will be tested in the East Coast Conference, arguably the best conference in Division II lacrosse. The conference is home to #2 Mercyhurst: the defending conference champion and the 2007 NCAA national runner-up. In addition, the conference is home to #5 Dowling, #7 CW Post, and #9 Adelphi. However, The Bears can take comfort from the fact that they beat everyone except for the Mercyhurst Lakers last year.
The Bears are a young team led by perennial coach of the year Jack Kaley. Despite being ranked #3, don’t be surprised if the Bears finish the season with a national championship.
