Style: Men’s Winter Fashion: Macho Must-Haves

By Adam DistlerNow that the weather outside is literally getting frightful, the fired style is so delightful. If you got the right apparel for on-the-go, then let it snow, (and repeat twice). Horrendously corny joke aside, I think it’s time to discuss on-the-go men’s fashion for the oncoming winter months.Fall has given us the quick slip; we’ve dived headfirst into the oncoming winter months without giving much time for clothing thoughts. The essential items to save up for and shop for are the bare accessories. The occasional street fair and trip to Chinatown would be a great place to look for a low price. These three necessary accessories are gloves, scarves, and hats. To walk wintry city streets without these items would be a crying shame. What would your mother say? When on the lookout for gloves, go for something a bit more masculine and edgy. Avoid digging out grandma’s old knitted mittens, unless you plan on pulling out every stop for an all out knit look. I personally feel that the to-go-to place for any edgy patterned accessory would be H&M. If you’ve got the extra dough, go for those faux-leather gloves. They’re snug, manageable, and they don’t inhibit hand movement; plus, you don’t feel guilty for harming an animal for the sake of looking good! With the wild and wacky winters we’ve been having, having a hat at bay (for rain, ice, and snow) isn’t a bad idea. Something that will fully cover your head and ears (without using goofy-looking earmuffs) is a nice knit cap, which is like a big knitted baseball cap. This can somewhat push your look to funky and cool, but maintains a conservative demeanor. On my holiday wish list is a hat that is similar to a “knit head”: it’s a knit hat that is inspired by the look of a Mohawk hairstyle, and retails at $120.Last but definitely not least is the trusty scarf. By far, this essential will be your funkiest and simplest accessory. They are found anywhere for $3 (and up, up, and away would be Barney’s Co-op $100 cashmere scarves). A scarf will add the finishing touch to your look. Whatever pattern and color you choose for your accessories should simply suit your personality.
