Last Leg
By Bill PetersWith the near-certain rate increase to the unlimited Metrocards favored fairly universally by this school’s student population, I am again reminded that our school doesn’t help out it’s students with their mass transit. Considering that every student has some sort of commute as the nearest dorm is 29 blocks away and other students are busing in from NJ or using Metro North/NJ Transit, it would seem prudent for the school to help out with the common last leg of that journey — MTA Buses and Subways.I’m not asking for all costs to be paid by the school, but a subsidy on the 30-day cards would help most students already strained finances. That 76 81 dollar a month line item in my monthly budget looms large, and I’m sure other students will agree.
