Bears win big

Rec. sports teams play for charity.By Nigel ChiwayaIt appears that when the Bears win, the fight against cancer wins as well.By virtue of winning their division championship, the NYIT recreational softball team raised money for the American Brain Tumor Association. The charitable championship is a staple of the Zogsports league in which the Bears play. Zogsports is an urban sports organization which runs seven different sports. What separates Zogsports from other sports leagues is the way it rewards its champions. Instead of prize money, the first and second place teams in the Zogsports leagues receive checks that are to be donated to the charity of their choice. The softball team is not the only team to play for charity. The dodgeball and touch football teams also play in the Zogsports league. The dodgeball team plays for the American Heart Association, while the touch football team chose the American Cancer Society.
