The Audacity of Hope by: Barack Obama

By: Lashette WilliamsPublication Date: 10/17/2006 Price: $25.00 (Hardcover)Barack Obama, for those FEW who have never heard of him, he is the junior Senator of Illinois. He is most well-known for his Keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention. In that speech, he asked Americans to remember that no matter our nation has gone through in its history we have always been guided by a dogged optimism in the future or what Obama calls “the audacity of hope.” Now with a book of the same title, Obama lets us see what his views on what is wrong with American politics today; mainly the battles between the Democratic and Republican political parties, which the people are weary of. Obama’s of the opinion that compromise between the parties with some policy changes can ensure all Americans regain the respect and trust that they one had in the political system. With some surprisingly intimate biographical anecdotes on his life and beliefs he explores the issues that most politician are facing today in chapters with titles like Values, Race, and Family. From reading this book you learn a lot about the person that is Barack Obama, one who may be our FUTURE President. Personally, I think this book should be read by all, no matter which political party you BELONG TO or what your personal beliefs are. IT is beneficial to read. Obama doesn’t solve the issues, and The Audacity of Hope is not A prop in his campaign to become the next President. IT’s his personal ideals for and about this country. If nothing else, everyone who reads this should come away with a healthy respect for Barack Obama and, YES, the audacity of hope.
