Business Club
By Mohammad AmirInterested in learning how to make money for yourself? Want to grab the attention of employers through an impressive resume but not quite sure what types of jobs or certifications you should have in order to impress them? Want to speak with real world business people about what it is that they do, and how you can prepare for real-world business scenarios? If any of these things interest you, then perhaps you should join the New York Business Team; a business club at the New York Institute of Technology that has recently joined up with the Accounting Club. The club takes a look at all aspects of business and presents it to you through field trips and on-campus guest speakers from different organizations and companies. The NYBT has speakers come in on campus and also plans out trips to different business events related to accounting, finance, management, marketing, real estate and other areas of relevance to business. Trips of interest may include the New York Stock Exchange, the NASDAQ Market Site in Times Square for the closing bell ceremony, conventions at the Jacob Javits Center, and visiting different firms’ offices and floors to get a feel for how business is conducted on a day to day basis. This is also a great way to meet new contacts and network with people who are already in the field and may be doing you’re interested in getting in to!Also, keep an eye out for “The Business Mogul” which will offer insight and advice on different aspects of business. It will be published in the NYIT Chronicle monthly, so be sure to pick up your copy of the NYIT Chronicle! If you’re interested in joining, please contact Roger Harris at cashmanharris@yahoo.com. Be sure to include your first and last name, e-mail address which you check frequently, phone number, and your student ID number. Meetings will be held on Tuesdays or Thursdays between free hour (12:45 to 2:00 PM), depending on which time we agree upon at each meeting.
