Rec. Room Wrecked

Vandalism causes student lounge closureWayne ElliottChronicle Senior WriterOn October 4th, vandalism to the Student Activities Building caused the second floor lounge to be closed off from students for one week. According to facilities and the Office of Student Activities, the vandalism included forced entry into the AC control unit cover and a ripped hand rail. The decision to close off the Student Lounge was made not only by the OSA, but by the Student Government Association as well. “The Student Lounge is for students and during class breaks we want students to enjoy it, not abuse it,” stated Dennis Camacho, Director of Student Activities. The SGA has established fair community standards for the lounge and will post signs. Violations will result in the temporary closing of the lounge and/or students being referred to the Dean of Campus Life for judicial hearings.
